Abstract

The article is devoted to the position of the Russian Emigree in Manchuquo in the conditions of the military regime during the Japanese war for “the Great Eastern Asia”. On the base of the unique archives of the Bureau for the Russian Emigrants’ Affairs in the Manchurian Empire and Tokyo Process documents the authors reveal the attempts of the Japanese military mission to use patriotic feelings of the Russian “Whites” to convert them into loyal subjects of the puppet empire and allies in the struggle for the domination in the East Asia, describes the growth of anti-Japanese mood and “defensive” sentiments of the emigrants. Patriotism of the “White” Russians majority turned out to be stronger than the Japanese political propaganda and fear of punishment by the military regime.
