Abstract
The article describes a diffi cult period in the life of Vladimir Kozma Zworykin (1888-1982), a Russian йmigrй scientist and inventor in the United States. By the 1940s, Zworykin received international recognition for his fundamental discoveries and inventions in the fi eld of electron microscopy and television. Although he had provided important services for the US military in designing electronic systems for night vision and bombing, he came under heavy FBI surveillance during WWII, which resulted in restrictions on his civil rights and nearly cost him his job at Radio Corporation of America, the company in which Zworykin designed many of his landmark inventions.
