- Abstract
- The author analyzes theoretical and practical research in the 1920s and 1930s that anticipated and subsequently inspired the formation of a new discipline of science studies (in Russian, naukovedenie). Attention is paid not only to conceptual aspects, but also to social structures that enabled such researche, thus connecting the agendas of investigators with social life in the Soviet Union. Developments in Russian research are also compared with general international trends of the period.
