Contemporary science studies and the history of science are actively investigating problems of scientific ethics and misconduct. This article explores the case of plagiarism in Hollis C. Chen's Theory of Electromagnetic Waves: A Coordinate-Free Approach (NY: McGraw-Hill, 1983), which appropriated scientific results obtained by Fedor Ivanovich Fedorov, theoretical physicist and member of the Belarus Academy of Sciences, commonly known in the literature as the Fedorov covariant method.
