A critical analysis of I. V. Tunkina's article, «On the fate of G. F. Miller's manuscript collection», shows that its claims are based on tendentious choices and, at times, outright distortion of historical facts. According to Tunkina, Miller abused his power by appropriating valuable official documentation, which towards the end of his life he sold back to the state. The present article relies on thorough archival research to dispel the above claim, as well as a few other historical myths surrounding academician G.F. Miller and his manuscripts.
