Abstract

By comparing fragments of Plato’s and Aristotle’s writings, dealing with opposite categories, and today's ideas in such fields as human physiology, physiology of plants, and psycholinguistics, the article reveals certain parallels between the ancient views and present-day science. On account of this finding, the author concludes that ancient ideas can play a creative role in the development of modern science.
