Abstract

In this study, the effect of personality and cultural variables on DMN connectivity, as measured based on EEG data, was investigated during evaluation of the self and other people. In high agreeableness, intellect, and emotional intelligence scorers, DMN connectivity was lower, whereas in high neuroticism and collectivism scorers it was higher during self-evaluation, as compared to evaluation of other people. One may suggest that self-evaluation, as compared to evaluation of other people, needs less cognitive resources in the former and more resources in the latter case. This evidence sheds new light on some personality- and culture-related behavioral patterns during social interactions.
