Abstract

The article analyzes specificity of interpersonal relations in the USSR, which were the basis of the external context of the formation of the Soviet man's personality. Psychological science bypasses the specificity of Soviet interpersonal relations, preferring not to introduce ideological content into the problems it studies. Journalism focuses on the state-person relationship, considering it by specific spheres (housing, transport, clinics, shops, etc.). Surveys show a significant increase in nostalgia for the Soviet era in modern Russia. In addition, the analysis of journalism devoted to this topic shows that it can be divided into two polar categories: texts that prove that it was “good” in Soviet times and publications which authors convince readers of the opposite — that it was “bad” then. The author shows that the Soviet period was characterized by a lack of trust for people, impoverishment of their capabilities, compression of the perspective of interpersonal relations, truncation of the space of choice, semantic doubling of reality, event poverty and excessive participation of the state in human life. It is emphasized that this enumeration is an illustration, not an exhaustive analysis of the problem, and outlined the contours of an explanation of nostalgia for the Soviet era.
