Abstract

The article introduces the impressions and reflections of the authors after reading the fundamental monographic study by A.N. Savenkov “Nuremberg: A Verdict for name of Peace”, in which the issues related to the Nuremberg Trial of 1945 - 1946 are deeply studied and analyzed. The book discusses the eternity and the enduring significance of punishment, its role in protecting peace and human civilization, and the progressive significance of the Nuremberg Trial. Attention is drawn to the timeliness and importance of this monograph for the education and upbringing of the younger generation of Russians in the era of socio-political changes and shifts. It is concluded that the verdict of the Nuremberg Tribunal clearly and vividly expressed the true essence of criminal punishment and determined a fair and proportionate punishment for criminals who encroached on peace, civilization and immutable universal values and ideals. The authors emphasize that along with historical, social, political, cultural and legal meanings, the Nuremberg Trial had an important psychological significance.
