Abstract

The Biden administration continues to make significant efforts to implement the new "pivot to Asia." There are two mega free trade agreements in the Asia-Pacific that could provide some political basis for a new phase of regional economic integration. The Biden administration proposes its new initiative, the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF). However, this initiative does not involve reducing tariffs or opening access to the U.S. market, which calls into question its effectiveness. One of the promising areas of cooperation could be the development of common standards for digital trade in the region.
