Abstract
Earlier publications by one of the authors of this paper that were concerned with the adoption of the method of nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) in the USSR described the respective studies in six USSR laboratories. In these earlier papers, the author maintained that, during the period in question, there had been yet another center where NMR was being explored, the Sukhumi Physico-Technical Institute (SFTI). The materials presented in this paper demonstrate that this assumption has been correct and the method of NMR had, indeed, been explored at SFTI and the first works in this area had been completed by 1952. The first actual scientific convention in the USSR devoted to NMR and related problems was held at SFTI in July 1952.
