Tlie analysis of archive and other documents shows that the beginning of Russian cable manufacture and cable technics on the whole is to be referred to the second half of 1840, when in one of the buildings of Petropavlovsky citadel practically started working the shop for «secret production of galvanic conductors». The workshop together with a special training centre of cable technics was first not only in Russia, but in Europe as well.
