Abstract

This article describes the contribution of Russian medieval travelers - pilgrims, merchants, and diplomats - to the body of historical and geographical knowledge about foreign countries. Medieval travelogues and chronicles contain a wealth of information about Rus' contacts with Byzantine, Asia Minor, Egypt, Germany, Italy, and other regions of the world.
