- Abstract
- Here is an attempt to compare some Bauman's ideas representing descriptions of the newest tendencies of social and cultural development with an image of a "modern society" described in the classical sociological theory. As a whole, the author of the article doesn't completely share a fundamental conceptual position about final overcoming of the "solid" modernity and transition of societies of a turn of millennia to an "essentially new" formational state. This position is shared today by many scholars and academics and partly characterizing Bauman's conception.
